WISDOM’S CIARRA GREEN AND ROSE HIGH BEAR PRESENT WISDOM WORKFORCE AT TWO SYMPOSIUMS DURING MAY:

Wisdom Workforce Coordinator Ciarra Greene (Nez Perce) and Rose High Bear (Deg Hit’an Dine) traveled to University of Washington in Seattle on May 14 to give a panel presentation at the “Living Breath of wateb?altxw” on indigenous foods and ecological knowledge. Their talk focused upon Wisdom Workforce Development initiative and the restoration of threatened and endangered traditional First Foods in the Portland urban community.

Last Friday, Ciarra and Rose gave another presentation on  at Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s Science Symposium at Reed College. The May 26 afternoon event was an exciting gathering of academic, jurisdictional, non-profit, and community parters all focused on sharing current science around water conditions, restoration, and watershed wildlife at Johnson Creek Watershed.

Following the symposium,  Wisdom was awarded the 2016 Riffle Award at the Annual Celebration honoring our support of JCWC’s mission: “To promote restoration and stewardship of a healthy Johnson Creek Watershed through sound science and community engagement.”
