Wisdom was blessed to have the support of two climate justice interns from PSU this year. Brianna Bragg, a Native American Master of Social Work student, assisted executive producer Rose High Bear with pre-production planning of Wisdom’s Climate and Native Wisdom documentary film series. She commented “Native tradtions and wisdom have often been devalued in the science world; however, the wisdom of our elders and our ancestors could be the linchpin in proteccting the environment and ourselves from climate change.”

Tiyanna Casey (Warm Springs) assisted us with development of our youth leadership initiatives, Discovering Yidong Xinag and our Native Peer Mentorships. She shared how ourproject aligns with the Climate Action Plan, “It educates the public about the effects of climate change on native plant species, invasive species, wildlife, ecosystems and the people who have sustained themselves using traditional knowedlge since time immemorial.”

We are proud to announce that both students have accepted summer positions at Wisdom for the summer and perhaps beyond. Thanks to the Institute for Sustainable Solutions and the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability who sponsored this Portland Climate Action Collaborative internship project.
