At Wisdom of the Elders, we are always honored to grow our circle with individuals who bring passion, purpose, and deep cultural integrity to our shared mission. Today, we are thrilled to introduce two remarkable individuals who have recently joined our team—Dean BlueEagle as part of our Wisdom Workforce crew, and Anthony Alvarado, who has joined our Board of Directors.

Welcome, Dean BlueEagle – Wisdom Workforce Crew

Dean BlueEagle brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our field-based work. With roots in the Hualapai Tribe (Grand Canyon), the Black Sheep Clan of the Navajo Nation, and Chicano heritage, Dean represents a powerful blend of Indigenous wisdom and contemporary action.

As a member of the LLC Crew, Dean plays a hands-on role in land stewardship and ecological restoration. Their journey includes working with “The Wagon Burners,” a cultural burn crew devoted to the practice of prescribed fire—a tradition grounded in the “land back” movement. For Dean, “land back” is more than a slogan; it’s a pathway toward reclaiming culture, dignity, and harmony with the Earth.

Dean is inspired by the commitment of the WOTE team and is especially appreciative of the collective dedication to making a positive impact on community and culture. Outside the field, Dean is an artist, cat companion to Mutton, and a curious learner exploring the world of computer science.

We are honored to have Dean’s energy, skills, and spirit on our team.

Welcoming Anthony Alvarado – Board of Directors

We are equally excited to welcome Anthony Alvarado, a writer, radio host, educator, and mentor who has joined the Board of Directors at Wisdom of the Elders. Anthony hosts the thought-provoking show Note to Self on XRAY FM and works with Native youth through NAYA in Portland, Oregon.

With Apache and Coahuiltecan ancestry, and family roots in South Texas and Northern Mexico, Anthony’s work is infused with a deep sense of cultural memory, healing, and intergenerational connection. Through storytelling, ceremony, and mentorship, he creates sacred spaces where Indigenous voices are uplifted and ancestral wisdom is shared.

Anthony’s insight will be especially valuable as he helps guide our youth outreach and media strategy, ensuring that our stories, teachings, and cultural expressions continue to reach and inspire the next generation.

We’re grateful to have Anthony’s leadership and vision on our board.

Growing with Purpose

Both Dean and Anthony exemplify what it means to walk with purpose, honor heritage, and work for the betterment of future generations. Please join us in welcoming them to the Wisdom of the Elders family.

Stay connected with us as we continue to uplift Indigenous voices, protect the land, and build bridges between generations through storytelling, culture, and stewardship.
