Turtle Island Storytellers

An Archive of Indigenous Voices

Turtle Island Storytellers Network

Since its launch in 2005, the Turtle Island Storytellers Network (TISN) has served as a vital archive of Indigenous wisdom, memory, and tradition. This powerful online speakers bureau was created to honor and elevate the voices of tribal elders, oral historians, storytellers, and song carriers from across the Northwest and Northern Plains.

Each storyteller featured in this growing digital library holds generations of knowledge—stories passed down orally for centuries that now find a new home online. From creation stories to historical teachings, from traditional songs to cultural consultation, this archive connects the past to the present and offers a resource for future generations to learn from.

With support from the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, the National Park Service, and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Turtle Island Storytellers Network preserves the authenticity and vibrancy of Indigenous storytelling.
