Position Title: Habitat Restoration Technician – Wisdom Workforce Development

Wisdom Workforce Development is looking to hire part-time and full-time field technicians to complete habitat restoration work. Are you excited about working outside, with the earth? Our work is driven by a deep respect for the land.
Individuals will be asked to conduct the following fieldwork as part of their position:
● Tree and plant planting
● Seed harvesting
● Invasive species removal using hand tools
● Chainsaw and brush cutter operation
● Manual labor including debris removal, slash pile burning, site clean up
Individuals need to be able to
● Follow verbal and written instructions and complete tasks as instructed
● Work independently and as a team
● Navigate rough and varied terrain over an 8-10 hour day carrying 30+ lbs.
● Navigate hills, muddy trails, no trails
● Able to walk, squat, and/or stand for multiple hours.
● Able to use hand tools for aggressive plant removal
● Ability to safely operate a chainsaw and brush cutter for multiple hours at a time, training
provided.
● Work in all weather conditions. We are a year-round restoration crew and work through hot
summer days and cold wet winters.
● Work times may shift seasonally to accommodate weather conditions and client needs.
Candidates will be expected to quickly learn the safe and proper use of all of the tools and skills above. Candidates will need to develop a solid understanding of plant identification. Priority will go to people who have completed our ITEK internship or with similar life experience. Those who haven’t completed our ITEK internship will need to complete at least one cohort of paid classroom learning with our ITEK interns.
Previous experience with hand and small tools restoration or similar work is a plus. Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record preferred. Our crew works throughout the Portland Metro area on a variety of sites.
The crew meets daily at 3917 NE Shaver St Portland OR 97212 to travel together to the job site.
