Editor note:
WISDOM 2010 accomplishments and an invitation to
join the WISDOM family.

WISDOM is demonstrating its capacity for rapid growth and several project accomplishments. Our corporation’s annual revenue has increased threefold the past two years since Rose returned from sabbatical. Some of you know that she was away from her normal responsibilities for two years to complete research and draft the Martin High Bear biography. While she was gone, WISDOM’s income dropped to a third of its prior levels, to below $60,000. During 2009, WISDOM doubled revenue to over $126,000. For 2010, it will be over $200,000.

In addition, the Obama Administration’s Corporation for National and Community Service has formed a partnership with WISDOM and  provide five full-time VISTA volunteers for a 3-5 year period starting June 2011. This is a remarkable opportunity and should help WISDOM fulfill its vision of helping eradicate poverty in our Indian community while we fulfill our mission of Native American cultural sustainability, education and race reconciliation. This boost in volunteer support will help WISDOM with its succession plan as younger managers step in to support WISDOM’s projects in the coming years.

We’re inviting you to become a member of Friends of WISDOM. Our funders are asking us to diversity our funding plan and the board is beginning to develop a funding campaign beyond the grants that we receive to do our work.  With your support, we can accomplish this.

As a member of Friends of WISDOM, you will become a part of the growing family that is supporting our multi-media work. Your contribution will assure that we can complete the services WISDOM is providing to our local and online community. We provide everything we produce in the traditional Native way – free of charge at our website. This means we need to rely on our Friends community to support our efforts. This is why we are asking you to become a member of Friends of WISDOM.
