Dear Wisdom Community,
We hope everyone is off to a great start to 2018!
Wisdom honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day this past week as a day of service and partnered with United Way on a day of volunteer work here at our Wisdom offices in SE Portland. Thank you to Amanda Shannahan and Melia Tichenor of United Way for providing a crew of volunteers that helped paint, clean, and brighten up our offices. What a wonderful way to start the new year!

>>>>> Oregon Tribal Storytellers Kicks Off
The Northwest Indian Storytellers Association has formed out of Tulalip, Washington. Wisdom of the Elders, which formed NISA in 2004 and has held 11 annual storytelling festivals in the state of Oregon since 2005, has given up NISA to comply with the wishes of our primary funder the National Endowment for the Arts. Wisdom is now seeking support to form the Oregon Chapter of our storytelling association. Our new name is “OREGON TRIBAL STORYTELLERS.” We plan to hold the 12th annual public event in 2018 and form four new chapters of our association throughout the state of Oregon during 2018. We are asking for individuals to join our working group which will meet in Portland and Salem over the next year. We are also asking for Friends to provide contributions to the initiative so we can fund our 2018 series of events. You can email NISA@wisdomoftheelders.org if you are interested in knowing more about the working group. You can also send a contribution to Wisdom earmarked “NISA Oregon Chapter.”>>>>> Rose High Bear and Wisdom of the Elders in ArtslandiaOur Co-Founder of Wisdom of the Elders, Rose High Bear was recently featured in Artslandia Magazine Thank you to Hannah Krafcik for a great article, and Christine Dong for beautiful photos.
