Wendy Red Star

Our December guest is Crow artist Wendy Red Star. Wendy is a practicing artist whose work explores the intersection between life on the Crow Indian reservation and the world outside of that environment.

Her work has been shown at the Missoula Museum of the Arts, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe and the Museum Tower at MOCA in Los Angeles.

She was born in Billings, Montana, but grew up on the Crow reservation between Pryor, MT and Hardin, MT in a multi-cultural family. Her mother is of Irish descent, her father is a Crow Indian and her older sister is Korean.

Wendy studied sculpture at Montana State University in Bozeman and earned her MFA in sculpture at UCLA. Her art is featured in an APEX installation at the Portland Art Museum until December 7.

Discovering Our Story airs live Sunday Dec. 7th at 1pm on Comcast Ch. 11 in the Portland Metro area.
