Wisdom Gardens

Gardens Harvest

Wisdom Gardens was established in spring of 2012 at Wisdom of the Elders to promote health and wellness in Portland’s Native American community through horticultural education and healing and to help restore traditional native food systems. We maintain two garden sites, a 20 ft. x 20 ft. plot at Earl Boyles Community Garden and our primary gardens located at Wisdom’s offices on SE 109th Avenue next to Kelly Butte.

Over the past two growing seasons Wisdom staff and volunteers have worked toward re-establishing native plants and incorporating various Northwest berry plants. Wisdom Gardens’ main Kelly Butte site contains a community garden with eight raised beds for individual families, a three-sisters garden, an ethno-botanical garden, and two berry patches.
